The George Wiedemann Brewery Newport, Kentucky        Wiedemann,  Royal Amber  and the other brands

Wiedemann was Kentucky's largest brewer and was located at 601 Columbia Street Newport Ky. Wiedemann was merged with G Heileman in August of 1967.  Heileman closed the brewery in May,1983.

Below are pictures of the Wiedemann cans I have and the information and distinction that make them different .

The Wiedemann Brewery used three different can companies to produce cans. The three canning companies used were...

1. American Can Co. used keglined trademark.

2. Heekin Can used a small H in a circle.

3. Continental Can Co. used three small "c"'s

Wiedemann Flat top Cans.

Wiedemann produced a series of slogan cans during the 1950's and early 1960's in flat top cans. I believe each of these slogan cans were canned by the three canning companies used by Wiedemann. There are a total of ten slogan cans. Although I do have several of the slogans in all three can company cans, I do not have all ten slogans in the three can company cans. Your help in answering this question would be greatly appreciated.

                                   The slogan cans

Wiedemann Crown and Cone top cans.

Wiedemann originally got into the canned beer game by canning it's "special brew" in cone top cans. Like with the flat tops, Wiedeman spread its business around using Crown Cork and Seal's crowntainer and Continental Can's high profile conetop can.

There are five different Wiedemann labels in the cone top version. A internal revenue tax paid (IRTP) and non IRTP in the "special brew" label. There are three bohemian only labels without the "special brew". 1. IRTP with alcohol statement  2.non IRTP with alcohol statement  3. non IRTP only.

Wiedemann also used the crowntainer to can it's bohemian and special brew beers. The crowntainers are very difficult to find in quality condition.

I am missing the 3.2% alcohol statement can in the label on the right. Please let me know if you have one of these cans for sell or if you can email a picture of this can.

The three cans above have a color scheme that is different enough to be able to claim that the Wiedemann Brewery may have had a color series going similar to the Wiedemann flat top slogan cans but with color. Does anyone have any information, ideas or comments on this theory? Email me from the contact page please.
